SPIRIT
FISHING
Friend Ships owns and operates fishing vessels in
our humanitarian aid programs. One of the ways that we will be able
to help people is to utilize the catch of fish to feed our volunteer
crew and to help people in need. While on fishing trips, we’ll train
our staff in maritime and fishing skills, greatly expanding the
fishing components of our aid to the world.
We have new fishing gear that has
commercial applications. And we have
an unlimited licensed Captain, who is qualified to operate in
any ocean, and has owned and operated fishing vessels and a
fishing company.
We now have a far greater capacity than
ever before to catch and utilize fish.
How
exciting to obtain these incredible skills and
knowledge that will enable us to forge further ahead in
our catching and taking of fish to feed the poor.
Friend Ships entire staff serves without
pay; there is no charge for any service we offer; we do not
transport cargo for hire and programs are funded by donations.
Fish is a food of exceptional nutritional value, providing
high quality protein as well as vitamins and minerals. It
provides essential amino acids and aids in brain development,
eyes, lungs, muscles, heart, digestive system, joints and
skin! Fish is a significant part of the diets of the many
developing nations, often providing up to 22% of the diet.
